12 days since my sabbatical started, I caught myself on a sad thought that I don’t feel productive compared to when I was working.
So then… what actually defines “productive”? Being busy to create wealth and money so they can be spent on something that creates a short-term comfort yet doesn’t really contribute to your life fulfilment and happiness? Nah.
Exploring ourselves, the world around us, socially engaging with friends and family and producing something of real value on a scale of a person’s life, on a scale of society, on a scale of planet. Those are the things that matter.
I realized that I want to keep exploring and learning about the world and society, opening myself up to new perspectives and outlooks before again jumping into giving 40+ hours of each week to something that would let me call myself “productive”.
Are you doing something that represents your life’s purpose? If not quite, are you on your way to get there? What can you do to find or follow your life’s pursuit? What can you do at your current role to make it valuable on a scale of your life path, society and planet?
