We run into many challenges in our lives, from small inconveniences to life-changing events and anything in-between.
We can change nothing about the past. We have the power to change some things in the now. But most importantly, we can change our reaction to what's happening.
How to have a calm mind and react peacefully? How to look for answers, draw lessons and find solutions?... rather than ruminating on what you or someone else could've done differently, or losing control, blaming others or yourself, getting frustrated and angry?
My life is not perfect, just as everyone else's. I've learned to solve some real issues in my life in the past, and today, when I face some challenges, I know I need to center myself first before I react negatively.
There are many activities that help me stay balanced, you can read about them in my other articles. But here, I want to talk about walking in the nature.
In our busy lives, where we are trying to balance work, career development, personal growth, health, exercising, eating well, friends and time with a partner (I could keep going with this list!), how can you find the time for a walk in the nature? The irony is that a walk does not steal time from you, it adds time to your day, in many ways.
Take a break from the errands you run, or from your office/desk, or from your computer/phone, or constant conversations, and just take a walk... 20-minutes in a busy day, and a couple hours on a weekend would do wonders for you. Those walks help you re-consider you priorities and maybe eliminate items from your to-do list that are not important or can be outsourced. And just like that, you free up time in your day/week, and eliminate unnecessary stress.
The world is so beautiful, and you're reminded to appreciate it more when you take the time to simply look around as you walk. It helps you feel more gratitude for your life and for all the great things that happen around despite any negativity that comes your way.
And finally, you benefit from breathing. Fresh air is the number one fuel that gets us going, and not only that, it also calms you down. As you walk outside, consciously take deep breaths of clean air to fill your body with premium fuel, and calm your busy mind.
Take care of yourself and go enjoy your walk in the nature. Have fun! 😉
